Job description

A Feld Guide is required to guide guests, on foot and by vehicle, providing a holistic safari experience, and actively assist the Safari Management with the administrative operation of departments and mentorship/leadership of the field guides.

KEY FOCUS AREAS
  1. Follow all procedures for maintaining the overall operation of the Guides and Safari department, including individual, family, and kids’ safari experiences, safety, excellent guest and staff relations, hosting of guests, and all equipment, vehicles, and assets.
  2. Perform all Field Guide functions according to FGASA standards and the MORE Guiding culture, including guest orientations, guided game drives, interpretive bush walks, tracking, spoor identification, ecological lectures, and bush events.
  3. Be available for all game drives, backup drives, and stand-by duties as directed.
  4. Practice proficient and safe weapon handling as directed.
  5. Contribute to lodge social media platforms, delivering relevant and engaging wildlife and area information to increase guest knowledge.
  6. Assist with incident handling during emergencies such as medical issues, fire, or floods.
  7. Ensure all guest information is collected and communicated prior to arrival, and inform management of guest preferences.
  8. Report all guest complaints immediately to your Head of Department/Management.
REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • FGASA Nature Site Guide (NQF4 and Trails Guide qualification advantageous)
  • ARH, Rifle Proficiency, First Aid Level 1, Driver’s License, and Pr-DP.
  • Previous experience as a Field Guide at a luxury safari lodge.
  • Knowledge of property and company procedures aligned with FGASA standards and the MORE Guiding culture.
  • Excellent attention to detail and hygiene principles.
  • Guest-focused philosophy, embodying the MORE brand and experience.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, practicing honest communication.
  • Team player with a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and emotional control.
  • Excellent time management and self-discipline.
