Job description

Introduction

To ensure that On Road Execution and customer service standards achieved.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Strictly enforces health and safety standards and Road Traffic Act
  • Management of productivity and customer service measures. Leverage distribution efficiencies by aligning resources to outputs.
  • Fleet up time, Achieve service levels across the network
  • Support fleet maintenance program on site, and ensure that the fleet standards are maintained at the highest standards
  • Responsible for the cleanliness, neatness and hygiene of all crew, equipment, and vehicles within your domain
  • Ensures that all vehicles are inspected daily via the drivers and any defects to be reported to the Distribution Controller for action
  • Administrative responsibilities - POD, Delivery notes, Invoices
  • Sorting and preparation of all shipment pack, printing invoices and allocating then to the correct pre planned shipment
  • Ensure route master updates are always done to cater for store changes
  • Follow up on any queries with Franchisees and feeds back within the required lead-time
  • Effectively coordinate orders for on hold accounts as indicated by the SOP
  • Execute distribution plan as per PLATO, using Trackmatic. Entrench effective communication between Driver's and Planning to ensure enhancements are derived from the plan
  • Ensure vehicles are dispatched without delay and ensure redeliveries are kept to a minimum.
  • Delivery issues resulting in customer returns or credits to reported monthly to identify and close the gaps.
  • Investigate and close the gap on missing POD and ensure processing of returns and Credit notes are done effectively within the agreed SLA
  • Manging drivers so they adhere to strict schedules and delivery fulfilment. Monitoring driver behavior and ensuring a high level of customer service
  • Utilizing GPS/Tracking systems to monitor drivers and track vehicles in case and actively report the abuse of company assets
  • Assist in the management of HR related matters as escalate to upper management as needed

Desired Experience & Qualification

Formal Education
  • Senior Certificate/Grade 12
  • Preferably a Transport/Logistics/Supply Chain Certificate or Diploma

Experience

  • FMCG distribution experience is a must
  • At least 2 years transport or distribution control experience
  • Plato and Trackmatic experience required
  • ERP system experience
