Job description

We are seeking a strategic and commercially astute Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial function of a leading FMCG company headquartered in Durban.

The CFO will play a critical role in shaping and executing the company's financial strategy to support sustainable growth, innovation, and operational excellence across South Africa and regional markets.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Leadership :
    Partner with the CEO and executive team to drive long-term financial and operational strategy.
    Provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis, forecasting, and risk assessment.
    Support business transformation, including digitization and route-to-market optimisation.
    Oversee all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
    Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with IFRS and local tax regulations.
    Manage cash flow, working capital, and capital allocation effectively.
  2. Business Partnering & Operational Support :
    Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to drive profitability and cost efficiencies.
    Develop pricing strategies and margin analysis models to enhance product competitiveness.
  3. Governance & Compliance :
    Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements (SARS, BEE compliance, Companies Act).
    Oversee risk management, internal controls, and audits (internal and external).
  4. Investor Relations & Funding :
    Maintain strong relationships with banks, auditors, and key stakeholders.
    Manage funding strategies, including debt, equity, and alternative financing.
  5. Lead and develop a high-performing finance team.
    Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
