Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage the installation and administration of IBM Spectrum Protect and Veeam Enterprise Backup Software.
2. Implement and maintain backup retention policies in line with business requirements.
3. Implement, maintain, and document recovery procedures aligned with DR policy.
4. Monitor daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly backups and perform health checks.
5. Resolve problems and perform fault finding.
6. Ensure security standards are adhered to.
7. Test and evaluate new backup software and hardware features.
8. Provide support and technical advice operationally and for projects.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Relevant tertiary qualification and/or software certifications.
• A minimum of 5 years relevant Backup Engineer experience.

Skills:

• IBM Spectrum Protect and Veeam Backup software.
• Network protocols (TCP/IP), Windows, Redhat Linux, and AIX Unix Server Systems.
• Technical Project Management.
• ITIL or similar service management principles.
• Familiarity with VMWare ESX is an advantage.
