Position title : Finance Manager

Location : Cape Town

Our client is a well-established, internationally recognised non-profit organisation providing healthcare services throughout South Africa, focusing on communities at increased risk for HIV and TB.

Purpose of the position : The Finance Manager will oversee financial management, audit and compliance, reporting, stakeholder management, and staff management, primarily focusing on CDC projects within the organisation.

Minimum requirements :

  • CA (SA) and at least 3 years of experience in finance, accounting, budgeting, and management, or an equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 2 years post-articles experience.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting systems (e.g., SAP).
  • PEPFAR audit experience is advantageous.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial modelling.
  • Report writing skills.
  • Clear credit and criminal record.
  • Proficiency in English communication.
  • Valid code 08 driver's license.

Responsibilities :

  • Financial management and accounting, including supervising project bookkeeping, preparing and reviewing bank reconciliations, overseeing compliance on project debit cards, staff debtors, and expense claims, and supporting programme directors with financial management.
  • Assist departments with finance-related activities, review and authorize electronic payments and transfers, maintain the fixed asset register, and manage financials and trial balance.
  • Ensure accurate VAT accounting, oversee internal and external audits, and assist with statutory audit preparations.
  • Cash flow management, including handling loan accounts and inter-account transfers.
  • Reporting and budgeting : Prepare and submit monthly expense claims and financial reports to funders, provide financial insights to senior management, and reconcile reports to the financial system.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, communicate plans, assign tasks, and participate in performance reviews.

Skills, competencies, and abilities :

  • Non-judgmental attitude, problem-solving skills, strong organisational and administrative skills, proficiency in reporting and statistics.
