Job Description
Our iKTribe is on the hunt for a Payroll Officer who takes pride in precision and loves keeping things running smoothly.

Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring accurate and efficient management of iKhokha's monthly payroll.
- Reviewing HR-related documentation to ensure payroll documents are filed correctly, kept up to date, and submitted to 3rd parties (e.g., employee IDs, tax numbers, bank details, medical aid, group risk info).
- Assisting Talent team with onboarding and offboarding employees from medical aid & group risk schemes.
- Processing monthly and ad hoc payroll runs accurately and in accordance with SA tax legislation.
- Reviewing monthly commission reports and submitting them for approval.
- Investigating anomalies in payroll data.
- Capturing and reviewing employee-related expenditure and investigating any unauthorized spend.
- Assisting with payroll forecasting and reporting related to internal asset capitalization.
- Reviewing leave pay and bonus balances, investigating discrepancies.
- Assisting in tax return submissions under the oversight of the Finance Operations Manager.
- Escalating payroll system errors and engaging with Sage / third-party consultancies for system improvements.
- Acting as the primary relationship manager with the internal HR team regarding payroll updates.
- Responding to employee payroll queries and generating related reports.
- Managing relationships with third-party providers like Discovery, PSG, and Sage.
- Assisting with BEE strategy implementation, including skills development planning and employment equity reporting.
Qualifications
- Business administration / finance degree or diploma.
- Certification in Sage.
Deal Breakers
- 5+ years' experience in payroll.
- Excellent knowledge of tax legislation affecting employees' pay.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Intermediate-to-expert experience with Sage Payroll software.
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Ability to handle pressure and adapt to a dynamic environment.
- Attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn about company operations' influence on payroll.
Preferred Experience
- Managing Discovery Medical Aid & Group Risk schemes.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with MS Dynamics Business Central or similar software.
