Key Role

The role requires knowledge and understanding of all aspects of Contract Management, gained through experience working within contractor's or employer's organization. This includes, but is not limited to, understanding contracts, risk, health & safety, progress planning, partnering, and cost reporting methodologies.

The Successful Candidate Will Be Responsible For
  • The primary responsibility is to manage the administration of a works package concerning all commercial, contractual, and performance matters related to specific elements of the Kusile Power Station, South Africa, utilizing FIDIC and NEC form of Contracts.
  • Fulfilling the role of the Package Engineer's Assistant as defined within a FIDIC Contract.
  • Monitoring the Contractor's Health and Safety performance against the Contract's specific requirements.
  • Monitoring the Contractor's Quality performance against the Contract's specific requirements.
  • Monitoring the Contractor's progress against the Project's defined targets.
  • Ensuring adherence to the Contract's commercial processes and procedures.
  • Managing the commercial package objectives and communicating them to the team.
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities to minimize Employer's liability.
  • Developing and encouraging staff to take responsibility for sections of the Project.
  • Fostering team spirit among team members.
  • Performing any other tasks reasonably within the scope of the role.
  • Being aware of and, where appropriate, applying SHEQ / Zero Harm Health and Safety objectives and Procedures.
  • Being aware of the Environmental Objectives and Procedures associated with the Project Site.
Health and Safety
  • Model standards for SHEQ performance and behavior aligned with the company's policies.
  • Contribute to SHEQ risk identification and promote Zero Harm initiatives.
  • Promote company values and maintain a safe working environment at all times.
Minimum Requirements
  • At least 10 years of Contract Management experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within a contracting company or as an employer's Resident Engineer.
  • Experience managing major contracts.
  • Good understanding of FIDIC contract conditions.
  • Technical knowledge in commercial, contract, and risk management.
  • Exposure to large engineering and construction projects, preferably in the Power or Major Infrastructure Sector.
  • Outstanding communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop proactive and professional relationships within an integrated team.
  • Ability to resolve problems independently and operate efficiently under pressure.
  • Proven ability to drive organizational change and lead multi-disciplinary commercial teams.
