The Head of Finance plays a pivotal role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of the organization.
The responsibilities include:
- Accurate recording of financial transactions and preparation of financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting principles and regulations.
- Providing leadership to the finance team through coaching, motivation, and development to achieve objectives efficiently and effectively.
- Leading by example by embodying and promoting the company's values daily.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborating with management and directors to develop operational strategies aligned with the organization's mission and long-term sustainability, and providing strategic financial guidance.
- Managing all finance and tax-related matters, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records, overseeing reconciliations and payments, and managing relationships with external partners such as banks and auditors.
- Ensuring compliance with reporting and regulatory requirements, managing external audits, and implementing internal control procedures.
- Conducting financial analysis and supporting teams with information analysis, proactively identifying irregularities and concerns.
- Implementing good corporate governance practices.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Developing annual budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring optimal resource allocation to meet strategic objectives.
- Monitoring performance against budgets and providing regular updates to senior management.
- Legal & Compliance: Managing insurance, legal practices, trademark registration, and franchisee contracts to ensure compliance.
- Payroll Management: Overseeing payroll processes, statutory payments, and ensuring adherence to financial procedures.
- Managing rewards, gift vouchers, and franchisee reporting systems.
- Human Resources & Other: Handling HR and IR management, maintaining personnel records, overseeing office facilities, and developing HR policies.
- Franchisee Management: Building strong relationships with franchisees, serving as their primary finance contact, and fostering collaboration across departments.
Essential qualifications include a degree in Finance (BCom), with a minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar role, proficiency in Microsoft Office and Pastel, and fluency in English and Afrikaans. Knowledge of IFRS, taxation, financial systems, and internal controls is required. Advantageous skills include Power BI, retail POS systems, and franchising experience.
