Role Purpose

The candidate will be responsible for administering the underwriting functions across all Guardrisk divisions and assisting in the oversight of underwriting activities performed by Underwriting Managers and Non-Mandated Binder Holders.

Requirements

• Minimum FAIS Credits (NQF Level 5)
• At least 10 years of commercial and corporate underwriting experience in an insurance company
• Insurance qualification is an advantage
• RE5 Short Term (Commercial and Personal Lines)
• Knowledge of Sasria and Sasria regulations

Duties and Responsibilities

• Issuing and structuring First Party solutions
• Ensuring compliance with professional standards, legislative, and licensing requirements
• Providing technical underwriting support to Product Owners, UMAs, and Portfolio Managers
• Managing and controlling reinsurance deals
• Monitoring underwriting performance of various cell facilities
• Developing/reviewing rating guidelines for UMAs and NMI Binder Holders
• Performing due diligence on new business prospects prior to Binder or Cell Agreements
• Conducting client reviews as per the review programme
• Assisting in developing and revising products and policy wordings
• Ensuring policies are issued in accordance with reinsurance slips for all reinsurance deals
• Providing technical advice to Portfolio Managers and Product Owners
• Participating in special projects and collaborating with Compliance
• Controlling the Sasria function and ensuring process adherence
