Job Title: Logistics Executive (Bellville)

Location: Western Cape, Bellville

Purpose of the Role

We are seeking an experienced Logistics Executive to oversee and coordinate logistics operations across 7 distribution centres, ensuring timely delivery to 45 Econofoods retail stores and B2B customers, including Lesotho. The role involves managing logistics processes, optimizing supply chain efficiency, and supporting company growth through scalable logistics solutions. The position requires travel and flexibility to be based at different sites.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Logistics Structure: Implement standardized logistics structures across all centres, focusing on scalability, cost efficiency, and automation.
  2. Supply Grid Optimization: Design and optimize the supply grid, including warehouse layouts and fleet requirements.
  3. Distribution Centre Management: Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch.
  4. Compliance: Ensure safety, food safety, and cold chain standards are met.
  5. Logistics Planning: Develop plans for timely, cost-effective deliveries aligned with business strategies.
  6. Supply Chain Optimization: Improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  7. Inventory Management: Maintain inventory accuracy, optimal stock levels, and compliance.
  8. Transportation Management: Manage fleet operations, route optimization, and driver safety.
  9. Customer Service: Ensure excellent service and resolve issues promptly.
  10. Data Analysis: Use logistics data for insights and reporting.
  11. Leadership & Culture: Foster a positive team environment and develop capabilities.
  12. Cost Containment: Drive initiatives to reduce waste and improve costs.
  13. Collaboration: Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for seamless operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in logistics or supply chain, preferably in FMCG or retail.
  • Proven record of efficiency improvements and cost reductions.
  • Experience with logistics software (TMS, WMS).
  • Strong understanding of supply chain processes and compliance.
  • Experience in food service, retail, or cold chain industries is an advantage.
