Job summary

A leading company in the food industry is seeking a QC Supervisor to oversee laboratory activities and ensure compliance with food safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Food Science, at least 5 years of QA supervision experience, and a strong background in microbiology. This role involves managing quality control processes, training staff, and maintaining relationships with customers and departments.

Responsibilities
  1. Oversee activities of the QC laboratory and support HACCP, Food Safety, Food Safety Management Systems, and Environmental activities.
  2. Act as stand-in for QA / QC Manager.
  3. Ensure QC laboratory compliance with SGS LAB Approval Standards.
  4. Prioritize testing, troubleshoot, and maintain records according to ISO, LAS, ISO / FSSC standards.
  5. Assist with specifications on SAP, PL1, and ensure correct inspection plans.
  6. Perform GMP walks, hygiene inspections, and internal ISO audits.
  7. Investigate customer complaints and non-conformances, trend reports, and ensure corrective actions.
  8. Use 5 WHY RCA and 8D formats for non-conformances.
  9. Monitor and control customer returns and handle technical queries.
  10. Assist in audits (Kosher, Halaal, FSSC, third-party).
  11. Generate scrap notes, trend scrap values, and reasons.
  12. Participate in Food Safety and Environmental systems, and maintain documentation.
  13. Assist in developing policies, procedures, and training programs.
  14. Train staff on food safety, hygiene, sampling.
  15. Maintain relationships with customers and departments.
  16. Maintain tariff codes, coordinate NPIs, and assist with IQD of samples.
  17. Conduct QC meetings, generate reports, and monitor quality near misses.
  18. Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Pharma, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years in QA supervision or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years as a microbiologist in the food/dairy industry, with analytical and tasting skills.
  • Experience with ISO audits.
