Duties & Responsibilities
- Strictly enforce health and safety standards and the Road Traffic Act.
- Manage productivity and customer service measures.
- Leverage distribution efficiencies by aligning resources to outputs.
- Ensure fleet uptime and achieve service levels across the network.
- Support fleet maintenance programs on-site and maintain fleet standards at the highest level.
- Maintain cleanliness, neatness, and hygiene of all crew, equipment, and vehicles within your domain.
- Ensure daily vehicle inspections via drivers and report defects to the Distribution Controller for action.
- Handle administrative responsibilities such as POD, delivery notes, invoices, and shipment packing.
- Update route master to reflect store changes.
- Follow up on queries with franchisees within the required lead-time.
- Coordinate orders for on-hold accounts as per SOP.
- Execute distribution plans using PLATO and Trackmatic.
- Facilitate effective communication between drivers and planning teams for plan improvements.
- Dispatch vehicles promptly and minimize redeliveries.
- Report and analyze delivery issues, customer returns, and credits monthly to close gaps.
- Investigate and resolve missing POD issues, ensuring timely processing of returns and credit notes.
- Manage drivers to adhere to schedules and delivery commitments.
- Monitor driver behavior and ensure high customer service levels.
- Use GPS/Tracking systems to monitor vehicle and driver activity, reporting any misuse of assets.
- Assist in HR-related matters, escalating as needed.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- Formal Education: Senior Certificate / Grade 12; preferably a Transport / Logistics / Supply Chain Certificate or Diploma.
- Experience: FMCG distribution experience is essential; minimum 2 years in transport or distribution control; proficiency with Plato, Trackmatic, and ERP systems.
