Summary

Under supervision and guidance of assigned training personnel; accepts and processes transactions from customers by personal contact, mail, and night deposit. Becomes knowledgeable in identifying customer needs, servicing accounts, explaining financial products, and resolving customer issues. Cross trains to perform retail banking specialist duties, such as opening new accounts, establishing direct deposit accounts, opening retirement accounts, and providing efficient and quality customer service. This position requires on-site work and the ability to travel/float between branches within the designated market.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required at the completion of your graduating year.
  • 1-2 years post-secondary education and/or experience in cash handling, customer service, banking, or related fields preferred.
  • Position begins as a Retail Banker with potential promotion to Retail Banking Specialist as skills develop.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel between branches and/or attend training required.

Regularly Scheduled Hours/Week: 29 hours

  • Monday and Wednesday: 7:45 am - 5:30 pm
  • Friday: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
  • Saturdays 8:00 am - 12:00 pm (3 per month)

Extended hours may be necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Training includes learning and developing the following duties:

  • Maintain strict privacy of customer account information.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, greeting customers warmly, maintaining eye contact, calling by name, and showing appreciation.
  • Process deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, issue cashier's checks, and cash checks, verifying identification and following policies. Examine checks for proper funds availability and counterfeit currency.
  • Review transactions visually for accuracy.
  • Count and balance cash, buy/sell currency, and ensure cash drawer limits are maintained. Scan proof work through branch capture machine.
  • Receive loan payments and articulate effectively with customers, referring to other bank services as needed.
  • Promote bank services and products, refer customers to appropriate departments, and interpret documents and write routine correspondence.
  • Follow daily opening and closing procedures, security measures, and secure cash in vaults.
  • Maintain currency and coin supplies, manually count and verify currency, and handle coins and currency weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Assist with night, mail, and ATM deposits.
  • Complete Currency Transaction Reports and other compliance documentation, report suspicious activities.
  • Inform management of activities and issues exceeding $50.00, assist with resolving outages and discrepancies.
  • Support internal customers and management with special requests and account maintenance.
  • Balance ATM and cash vault as needed.
  • Provide quality service, answer inquiries, and assist with unusual transactions and customer questions.
  • Identify fraudulent transactions, review concerns, and stay informed on suspicious activities.
  • Gain proficiency in executing wire transfers.
  • Operate office equipment and bank software, including MS Office, Outlook, and internal systems.
  • Arrive on time, work on-site, and cooperate with colleagues.
  • Complete online compliance training and attend retail training classes as assigned.
  • Additional duties or location changes may be assigned.

Upon Successful Training

Develop specialized retail banking skills such as building customer profiles, processing debit cards, handling account changes, and opening/closing accounts.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Physical Demands

Must have visual acuity for reading materials and identifying customers, sufficient mobility for the work environment, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. May require exposure to outdoor weather conditions.

Maintain attention to detail, interact calmly with customers, maintain confidentiality, and perform basic mathematical and interpretative tasks.
