Qualifications

Responsibilities
- Provide individual and/or group counselling (including crisis intervention / debriefing) to students in need of mental health support
- Acting as a point of contact for all student wellness support and development needs
- Take on a lead role in student wellness and mental health awareness campaigns and projects
- Responding to and resolving student queries within the stipulated time frames
- Involved in termly orientation per new cohort
- Develop and implement mental health outreach initiatives, including workshops, group sessions, and community events, to promote mental health and wellness among students
- Tracking and documenting national student wellness support and development metrics
- Study plans and career guidance
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to develop and implement policies and programs that support student well-being and promote a healthy campus environment. Identifying at-risk students and tracking retention
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of all interactions with students, including progress notes and treatment plans
- Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in mental health counselling and wellness promotion
- Utilising SACAP’s Student Management System to provide expert guidance to SACAP students
- May act as site coordinator to student counsellors completing their practicum / Work Integrated Learning hours
Qualifications And Experience
- A minimum of a degree qualification in the discipline of Counselling, Psychology or Coaching; or at least 5-years’ of experience in a cognate field
- Registered with HPCSA as a Registered Counsellor
- Advanced computer literacy skills, including online systems.
- 2 years of full-time experience, preferably within the field of Higher Education.
- Highly developed relationship-building / interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
