MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - SA STEELWORKS

AIRPORT INDUSTRIA – CAPE TOWN

SA Steelworks is seeking a dedicated and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will support the Engineering department.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Expertise in 3D CAD packages, including detailed design of industrial machines, sub-components, sheet metal design, weldments, and large-scale assemblies.
2. Generate detailed drawings and BOMs.
3. Prepare manufacturing and assembly instructions.
4. Perform mechanical stress and load calculations, and utilize FEA and simulation software.
5. Experience with industrial machine and structural design.
6. Knowledge of motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical power transmission.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

1. B-Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
2. 2-7 years of industrial design experience.
3. Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks.
4. Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
5. Proficiency in MS Office.
6. Understanding of fabrication, boiler making, welding, and precision machining.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

1. LV electrical systems.
2. Experience with Enterprise PDM.
3. FEM/FEA simulation analysis.
4. Experience with engineering calculations software such as Mathcad or MATLAB.
