Job summary

A leading automated manufacturing company is seeking a Factory Cost Accountant to manage accounting and financial documentation. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Finance or Management Accounting and up to 5 years of experience, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities include preparing cost files, monitoring stock processes, and ensuring compliance with financial controls.

Qualifications

  • Up to 5 years of experience in cost accounting/reporting.
  • Manufacturing experience is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of SAP, FI, and MM modules.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare import cost files and submit summaries to Management Accountant.
  • Compile monthly lead balancing reports, including scrap sent to Frys.
  • Investigate and resolve stock variances.

Job description

A leading automated manufacturing company is seeking a Factory Cost Accountant to handle accounting and financial documentation for reporting and costing, in accordance with company procedures and processes.

Educational Qualifications and Experience :
  • Degree in Finance / Management Accounting or related fields (NQF6).
  • Possession of or studying towards CIMA is advantageous.
  • Up to 5 years of experience in cost accounting / reporting or equivalent.
  • Manufacturing experience is advantageous.
  • Computer literacy, especially in MS-Office (Excel skills essential).
  • Knowledge of SAP, FI, and MM modules.
Key Responsibilities :
  • Prepare import cost files and submit summaries to Management Accountant for SAP updates.
  • Assist with scanning projects and support the Management Accountant as needed.
  • Maintain and correct Material Master information.
  • Monitor scanning process performance and initiate corrective actions.
  • Prepare daily production scrap reports and participate in scrap meetings.
  • Compile monthly lead balancing reports, including scrap sent to Frys.
  • Report monthly on stock count completeness across all sites.
  • Coordinate and assist with factory stock counts.
  • Investigate and resolve stock variances.
  • Report stock counts for management review.
  • Ensure compliance with controls and procedures to maintain data integrity.
  • Report risks or concerns to management.
  • Ensure adherence to regulations to prevent wasteful expenditure.
  • Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the company in meetings with stakeholders.
  • Approach problem-solving creatively and with integrity, aligning with core values.
  • Contribute to the budget preparation process for manufacturing.
  • Promote the efficient, economical, and transparent use of resources.
