Job Description

The Security Engineer is tasked with the vital responsibility of implementing and maintaining robust security protocols to safeguard the organization's data and infrastructure.

This hands-on position entails executing security strategies, as well as installing and configuring vital security apparatus, such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems.

The Security Engineer is responsible for applying and maintaining security measures to protect critical data and infrastructure.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Installing, configuring, and managing security systems and software.
  2. Identifying and remediating detected vulnerabilities promptly.
  3. Responding swiftly to security breaches or incidents.
  4. Ensuring the continuous secure operation of the IT environment.
  5. Staying abreast of the latest developments in security technologies, threats, and countermeasures.

The Security Engineer plays an essential role in maintaining the integrity and security of the organization's digital resources through diligent maintenance and proactive monitoring.

Area of Responsibility and Responsibilities
  • Security Implementation: Implement security controls based on guidelines and designs provided by the security architect.
    Key Performance Indicators: Number of security controls implemented within the timeline; percentage of controls functioning as expected.
  • Security Configuration: Configure and manage security solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, and data encryption.
    KPIs: Number of configurations completed; solutions functioning without critical issues.
  • Vulnerability Remediation: Apply patches and modifications to fix vulnerabilities.
    KPIs: Mean time to remediate vulnerabilities; number of exceptions; age of open vulnerabilities.
  • Security Monitoring and Incident Response: Monitor security systems, respond to incidents, perform initial analysis, and escalate as needed.
    KPIs: Incidents detected and responded to; mean time to identify and escalate critical incidents.

Requirements

Knowledge: Extensive understanding of cybersecurity principles, security systems, vulnerability remediation, incident response, network and system security, cloud security, compliance standards, and emerging technologies.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in relevant fields; industry certifications like CISSP, CEH, CISM; cloud security certifications; other relevant certifications.
Experience: Hands-on experience with security measures, vulnerability assessments, incident management, and cloud security.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with security tools, scripting, encryption, incident response, and ITSM frameworks.
Soft Skills: Communication, teamwork, continuous learning, customer focus, adaptability, stress management, time management, ethics, and integrity.
