Job description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Midrand has an opportunity available for a Paralegal Lease Administrator.

To provide both legal and administrative support to leasing and property management teams.

The role involves drafting, reviewing, and managing lease agreements while ensuring compliance with South African property, commercial, and pharmacy-related laws.

Maintain accurate legal documentation, support regulatory filings, and liaise with landlords, tenants, and legal professionals to ensure smooth lease execution and alignment with the employer's leasing mandates.

Minimum Requirements
  • Essential: Grade 12 / Matric, Certificate or Diploma in Paralegal or related field, minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a legal or leasing environment, experience in lease financial calculations including Present Value (PV) scenarios and comparisons.
  • Advantage: Degree in Law (LLB), Certification in contract management, procurement or financial analysis, experience in property law, real estate or leasing.
Job Specification
  • Lease Administration and Documentation: Draft, review, and amend lease agreements, including offers to lease, addendums, renewals, and letters of intent. Ensure compliance with legal standards and internal policies. Review landlord agreements and recommend changes. Track lease expirations and renewals, maintain records, and operate the employer's lease management system.
  • Legal and Compliance Support: Monitor lease obligations, ensure compliance with lease terms and industry regulations, stay updated on relevant laws, and ensure agreements comply with POPIA, CPA, and other legislation. Conduct legal research, draft legal correspondence, liaise with attorneys, participate in lease negotiations, and assist with legal and regulatory documentation.
  • Regulatory Adherence: Stay updated on South African property, commercial, and compliance laws, and ensure lease agreements are compliant.
  • General Administrative Support: Support the Operations Director, maintain lease logs, coordinate with property stakeholders, handle confidential information, and support the leasing team to ensure efficiency.
Competencies
  • In-depth understanding of South African property law, leasing principles, and contract compliance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret lease terms, assess risks, and suggest modifications.
  • Understanding of company policies, legal standards, market trends, and regulatory shifts.
