A leading provider of Heavy Commercial Vehicle Insurance across South Africa and the SADC region is looking for a Portfolio Manager to join its team. The company specializes in building long-lasting relationships within the insurance industry and prides itself on its expertise in underwriting, as well as a deep understanding of the heavy commercial vehicle insurance sector.

The role involves taking over an existing portfolio of brokers and clients, ensuring continuity in relationships, and focusing on new business development. The ideal candidate will have experience in dealing with brokers and selling insurance products, with a preference for knowledge in trucking insurance. The company is looking for an individual they can groom and develop to fit into their specialized niche in the insurance market. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to learn and grow within the industry.

Fluency in Afrikaans is essential, and the candidate must be willing to travel to the provinces of North West, Free State, Bloemfontein, Mpumalanga, and Pretoria as part of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Management: Take over an existing portfolio of brokers and clients. Build and maintain strong, lasting relationships, ensuring the continuity of business and satisfaction for all clients.
  • New Business Development: Actively pursue new business opportunities within the industry to expand the client base and increase revenue, while effectively managing existing clients.
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders to foster loyalty and trust.
  • Client Support: Provide ongoing support and advice to brokers and clients regarding insurance products, ensuring their understanding and satisfaction with the offerings.
  • Sales and Marketing: Promote and sell insurance products, identifying opportunities for growth, and ensuring that sales targets are met.
  • Travel: Regular travel to different provinces (including North West, Bloemfontein, Free State, Mpumalanga, Pretoria) to meet with brokers, clients, and attend business development meetings.
  • Problem-Solving: Address and resolve any issues that arise with brokers or clients, ensuring that demands are met while maintaining a professional relationship.

Key Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Fully qualified in short-term commercial insurance.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in dealing with brokers and selling insurance products.
  • Good understanding of the commercial insurance industry, preferably with knowledge of commercial vehicle insurance.
  • Experience in portfolio management or account management, with the ability to take over and manage an existing portfolio effectively.
