Conferencing and Accommodation Marketing Coordinator

About The Job

The CSIR has a vacancy for a Conferencing and Accommodation Marketing Coordinator in the CSIR Conferencing and Accommodation (CA) portfolio, which includes the CSIR ICC, Knowledge Commons, Newtons Eatery, and Entabeni Accommodation. The incumbent will be responsible for digital marketing, public relations, and media activities to position the CSIR ICC as an internationally competitive and preferred venue, aiming to meet income and brand objectives. They will research market trends in hospitality and business events to contribute to marketing strategies. The position is based in Pretoria and reports to the Marketing Manager.

Key Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to develop marketing and communication plans aligned with organisational goals and conduct market research to identify target audiences and channels.
2. Create engaging content for websites, social media, newsletters, press releases, and printed materials, and report on marketing activities.
3. Stay updated on marketing trends and contribute to strategic planning to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
4. Plan, coordinate, and implement promotional activities and assist with marketing campaigns.
5. Ensure consistent brand application across all materials.
6. Undertake social responsibility initiatives and maintain related records.
7. Assist in planning trade show exhibitions and related materials.
8. Prepare marketing briefs and liaise with creative agencies and suppliers.
9. Manage sourcing and coordination of services and products for the CA group.
10. Create internal communication plans to foster an engaging organizational culture.
11. Liaise with departments to motivate product development and marketing initiatives for CSIR ICC products and services.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

• A tertiary qualification in marketing or public relations with at least two years of relevant experience, preferably in the conference industry.
• Knowledge of the conference industry's marketing environment.
• Strong business writing and editing skills.
• Creative thinking with attention to detail.
• Understanding of brand application.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
