Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Accountant to join the Port Elizabeth team.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and initiate the processing of client information receipts, sales invoices, purchase invoices
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Process and reconcile Petty Cash and cash control accounts
- Maintain a fixed asset register
- Prepare and post general journal entries, such as depreciation, provisions, interest, salaries, stock, etc.
- Handle journal entries for new installment sale agreements, interest on borrowings, provisions, accruals of income and expenses, bad debts, etc.
- Distinguish between finance and operating leases
- Manage foreign exchange transactions
- Reconcile debtors and creditors statements
- Ensure correct accounting treatment for disposal of assets (property, plant & equipment) and investments, including taxation on capital gains/losses
- Analyze the trial balance for errors or deviations and discuss findings with the client
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12
- BCom in Accounting or a similar qualification
- Completed SAIPA / SAICA Articles (preferred)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an accounting environment
- Proficient in MS Office
- Experience with Caseware (preferred)
- Experience in preparing compilations and independent reviews (advantageous)
