Duties & Responsibilities
- Setting and reviewing the investment philosophy and strategy for the corporation's local and offshore investment portfolios, considering insurance liabilities, regulations, risk appetite, and the solvency framework.
- Performing asset modelling and analyses to inform the investment strategy.
- Reviewing the Investment Policy Statement (IPS).
- Collaborating with the actuarial unit to conduct asset/liability studies to guide investment decisions.
- Providing asset class investment portfolio construction parameters and asset manager specifications, supported by market analysis.
- Defining asset allocation, investment guidelines, and portfolio construction, ensuring alignment with insurance liabilities, risk appetite, and solvency requirements.
- Aligning asset manager investment guidelines with each manager's process and style, and setting ex-ante risk and return expectations.
- Liaising with the asset consultant to research asset managers and portfolio construction.
Implementation of Investment Strategy
- Selecting, appointing, and onboarding asset managers.
- Preparing tender, evaluation, and selection criteria for new asset managers following procurement policies.
- Coordinating asset transitions with asset managers, the asset consultant, and the custodian, including reconciliation reports.
- Ensuring compliance with the IPS and investment guidelines by asset managers.
- Monitoring asset managers through performance reports, due diligences, and evaluations.
- Managing fund allocations to meet investment objectives within risk parameters.
- Managing liquidity and cash flows, including rebalancing portfolios.
- Evaluating portfolio and contributor performance.
- Managing investment risks and maintaining risk registers and reports.
- Ensuring compliance with all investment risk policies and assisting with stress-testing for ORSA.
Managerial Responsibilities
- Managing the investment team, establishing processes, policies, and reporting tools.
- Setting performance goals and reviewing team performance.
- Maintaining documentation of unit processes.
- Managing external service providers and investment activities, reporting to senior management.
- Ensuring timely and high-quality reports and proposals.
- Managing operational and investment expenses.
- Forecasting investment portfolios, returns, and expenses for budgeting and planning.
- Collaborating with actuarial, finance, and risk units for compliance and reporting.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- Honours degree in Financial Management, Accounting, Investment Management, Actuarial Science, or related field.
- CFA qualification is required.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in an investment environment.
- Knowledge of market systems (e.g., Bloomberg) and asset modelling software is advantageous.
- Experience in the insurance industry is an advantage.
- Knowledge of government procurement processes, policies, and Acts is advantageous.
