Role Purpose/Business Unit:We are seeking an experienced and highly technical Senior Specialist: QA Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring quality and reliability of our eCommerce platforms and all the digital channels systems. The ideal candidate will lead day-to-day QA operations, drive innovation in testing practices, and manage active engagements with both business stakeholders and downstream system owners to ensure seamless, end-to-end integration and user experience. This is a hands-on role that requires deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Your responsibilities will include:- Develop and execute tests to ensure code and capability quality, overseeing the end-to-end development process.
- Review technical design documents and tracking quality assurance metrics to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Design and implement tests, identifying deficiencies, debugging, and defining remediating actions.
- Provide software-related operations support, including providing level two and level three incident and problem support.
- Direct oversight on testing activities, ensuring quality standards are met across squads
- Mentor and support junior engineers, offering technical guidance and feedback on test design, execution, and defect triage
- Coordinate cross-squad QA alignment, promoting best practices and reducing inconsistencies
- Help drive consistent QA standards across delivery teams
- Lead day-to-day QA operations across squads
- Manage communication with business and technical stakeholders on day-to-day QA operational issues
Key Responsibilities:
- Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to ensure adherence to design quality and coding standards.
- Design and implement acceptance tests for user and technical stories.
- Test and validate solution against user story and technical story acceptance criteria, leveraging automation where possible.
- Debug tests and provide corrective actions to software engineering.
- Identify, record, and monitor testing bugs.
- Track quality assurance metrics, such as defect density and early life incidents.
- Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities.
- Manage incidents as level two and level three support.
- Manage problems as level two and level three support.
- Suggest improvements to user stories and journeys.
- Technical design assessment and evaluation.
- End-to-end solution and software test design, execution, and validation, with management of testing scenarios across teams / capabilities.
- Unit, integration, smoke and static code analysis testing.
- Architectural element testing e.g. APIs.
- Performance and security testing e.g. Jmeter, Locust, Loadrunner
- Automated testing and tools e.g. Selenium, Appium
- Code reviewing |Test report creation.
- Software incident and problem management.
- Continuous integration and continuous delivery methodologies and tools.
- DevOps culture, processes, and tools.
- Expertise in multiple programming and mark-up languages, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java, Ruby, SQL, XML,
- JSON, YAML, and Python
The ideal candidate for this role will have:- 3 years Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
- A minimum of 5 years or more years of work experience in software quality assurance, test automation engineering, programming and/or systems analysis and design
- ISTQB Foundation and Advanced Level Certification. (required)
- Highly technical software testing skills.
- Deep expertise in validating complex e-commerce, billing, vetting and CRM platforms. (required).
- Experience of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes, with experience writing and executing comprehensive test plans and test cases.
- Very strong automation experience and system-thinking to ensure seamless end-to-end validation across distributed architectures.
- Very strong experience of automation testing tools and scripting languages
- Experience working with agile methodologies, such as Scrum, Kanban, XP.
- Strong experience working with multiple programming and scripting languages, such as Python, JavaScript, Ruby, SQL, and Python.
- Strong experience in building CICD Pipelines, SCM and containerisation tools.
- Professional experience and knowledge of the Telecommunications industry preferred.
