Job description

Our leading FMCG manufacturing client is looking for a senior Procurement Manager to drive strategy and operations in the acquisition of goods and services to meet the company's objectives.

Responsibilities
  1. Managing supplier relationships, reducing costs, and minimizing risk.
  2. Evaluating sourcing procedures and presenting improvement strategies to senior management for approval.
  3. Analysing and calculating procurement costs and developing cost reduction strategies.
  4. Driving purchasing decisions based on cost and scenario analysis, as well as market trends.
  5. Collaborating with the procurement department to identify and pursue new supplier opportunities.
  6. Conducting market research, creating cost estimates, and forecasts.
  7. Estimating risks and applying risk minimizing techniques, negotiating contracts that comply with industry regulations.
  8. Maintaining strategic sourcing relationships and developing strong partnerships.
  9. Ensuring all important Raw Materials and Dry Goods are sourced efficiently (low cost, right quality, and on time).
  10. Ensuring purchases are aligned to Business Stocking Parameters.
  11. Ensuring Procurement Policy is adhered to across the organisation.
  12. Negotiating contracts with key suppliers, including costs and terms of supply, service, and quality.
  13. Ensuring tenders and contracts are legally compliant, accurately articulating the needs to protect business interests.
  14. Developing, implementing, and maintaining the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process.
  15. Managing compliance and payment of invoices.
  16. Assessing, developing, rewarding, and recruiting resources, ensuring alignment with company culture, values, purpose, and strategy.
  17. Planning resources on an annual basis based on business development.
  18. Ensuring readiness of the team to effectively achieve goals and personal growth.
  19. Continually developing LEAN strategies for performance improvements through routine evaluations, audits, and performance reviews.
  20. Maintaining a high standard of employee relations through regular and formal interactions to ensure that Freys is an employer of choice and employees are aware of their obligations.
Key Challenges
  1. Engaging with various key stakeholders who may provide conflicting information.
  2. Directly influencing customers and consumers.
  3. Sourcing of local, national, and/or international raw material suppliers and/or alternative raw material substitutes.

Know-How and Skills
  1. Bachelor's degree in commerce/Finance, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  2. Proven experience as a Sourcing Specialist with a thorough understanding of sourcing methodologies, market trends, and supplier capabilities.
  3. Purchasing experience within an FMCG environment will be advantageous.
  4. Understanding of general finance and budgeting, including profit and loss, balance sheet, cash-flow management, and forecasting.
  5. Excellent communicator who is persuasive and has great interpersonal skills.
  6. Demonstrating deep understanding of the Company's commodities and knowledge of all key players and suppliers in the industry.
  7. Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and a critical thinker with strong research skills.
  8. Proficiency in Syspro ERP, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  9. Strong leadership standards with sound time-management and organizational skills.
  10. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  11. Conflict management and target orientation.
