Job description

Our Client, a Global Tech firm, is seeking an IT Infrastructure Manager to join their team in Sandton (Onsite) on a contract basis.

The IT Infrastructure Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the deployment, operation, and maintenance of Azure-based infrastructure. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic planning to ensure that the cloud infrastructure meets the organization's needs for reliability, scalability, security, and cost-efficiency.

Key Responsibilities :
  1. Design, implement, and manage scalable and secure cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure.
  2. Monitor and maintain Azure resources, including virtual machines, storage, networking, and databases.
  3. Ensure high availability and disaster recovery solutions are in place and regularly tested.
  4. Implement and enforce security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., POPIA, GDPR, HIPAA).
  5. Manage identity and access management (IAM) within Azure to control user permissions and roles.
  6. Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  7. Analyze and optimize the performance of cloud infrastructure to ensure efficient resource utilization.
  8. Implement monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address performance issues.
  9. Continuously evaluate and integrate new Azure services and features to enhance infrastructure performance.
  10. Monitor and manage cloud spending to ensure cost-effective use of Azure resources.
  11. Implement cost-saving strategies, such as reserved instances, auto-scaling, and resource tagging.
  12. Provide regular cost reports and forecasts to stakeholders.
  13. Plan, execute, and oversee cloud infrastructure projects from conception to completion.
  14. Coordinate with vendors, consultants, and third-party providers to ensure successful project delivery.
  15. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  16. Stay updated with the latest Azure technologies, trends, and best practices.
  17. Conduct regular reviews and assessments of the cloud infrastructure to identify areas for improvement.
  18. Drive innovation by exploring and implementing new tools and methodologies.
  19. Proven experience managing and administering Microsoft Azure environments.
  20. Experience with cloud architecture, infrastructure design, and deployment.
  21. Experience in managing security, compliance, and disaster recovery in a cloud environment.
  22. Leadership experience with a track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
Knowledge and Attributes :
  • Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (e.g., ARM templates, Terraform).
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and configurations in Azure.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines).
Academic Qualifications and Certifications :
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Technical, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Relevant Azure certifications, such as Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Expert, or similar, are highly preferred.
