Rhodes University seeks an Assistant Archivist for a three-year contract. The role involves managing archival materials and supporting collection development at the Cory Library for Humanities Research. Candidates should have a relevant degree and experience in the GLAM sector.
The Library Services Division Technical Services invites suitably qualified candidates to join their team.
The main purpose of this position is to prepare, under the supervision and in consultation with the Archivist (direct line manager) and working closely with other staff at Cory Library for Humanities Research whenever needed, to collect, select, appraise or dispose, accession, submit for digitizing, conserve, secure, and make accessible past and current relevant archival materials (paper-based, other tangible objects, audio-visual, etc.) deposited into the library as part of collection development. The incumbent will overall deliver collection development activities related to all special and archival materials at the Cory Library for Humanities research.

Basic Pensionable Salary per annum: R401,952.00
Cost to Company per annum (Approximately): R539,645.00
