They are known for cultivating a high-performance, entrepreneurial culture where accountability and ownership are core to how they operate. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-growth investment business in a pivotal role at the intersection of technology, operations, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Operations Manager, you will report to the Financial Director and be based full-time at the Sandton office. Your responsibilities will span across three core areas:

IT Special Projects

  • Lead and support strategic technology initiatives, including the design and implementation of a new SQL database and configuration of BlackRock’s eFront for private markets.
  • Drive the development of a new Investor Portal for client access and portfolio visibility.
  • Collaborate across departments (Distribution, Investment, and Central Operations) to improve process efficiency and digital transformation.

IT Operations Oversight

  • Manage the performance of an outsourced IT service provider, ensuring high-quality delivery of infrastructure, desktop support, and network services.
  • Oversee IT architecture, license management, spend monitoring, and procurement.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate IT risks, including cybersecurity threats and operational vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain governance frameworks and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Compliance Management

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks such as POPIA, GDPR, FICA, and FATCA.
  • Develop, review, and update IT and compliance policies.
  • Conduct internal audits and assessments, address compliance gaps, and stay ahead of regulatory changes.
  • Manage internal compliance submissions and maintain a structured compliance calendar.

Experience and Educational Requirements:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Law, with strong academic results.
  • A background in financial services, ideally within an asset management or investment firm.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT operations, compliance, or a similar role within the financial sector.
  • Strong project management capabilities with a track record of successfully delivering complex initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of IT risk management, governance, and compliance.
  • Exposure to international regulatory environments and experience managing external vendors or service providers.
  • High levels of ownership, independence, and initiative—someone who thrives in a fast-paced, non-micromanaged environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to understand and support business needs through technology.
  • Must be open to obtaining the relevant Regulatory Examination (RE) qualifications if required.

If you're a proactive and driven individual looking to take the next step in your operations and IT leadership career, this is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-moving, high-growth investment business at the forefront of alternative asset management.
