Requirements
- An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
- HPCSA registration as an Independent Medical Practitioner and must have completed Community Service.
- Current registration with HPCSA for 2025/2026.
- Must have Diploma/Part 1 in relevant department.
- Attendance of relevant courses and working experience in the relevant department will be an added advantage.
Duties
- Interview, investigate, diagnose, and oversee the treatment of patients.
- Perform administrative duties related to patient care.
- Participate in teaching, research, departmental audits, and report writing.
- Engage in community liaison and supervise junior doctors.
- Willing to work longer hours, including after hours, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Attend departmental meetings such as mortality and near miss meetings, and complete medico-legal documents promptly.
- Improve quality of care and reduce medical litigation through good clinical practice.
- Implement and monitor adherence to National Core Standards.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams for patient management.
- Perform practical procedures relevant to patient care.
- Participate in departmental meetings, journal clubs, case presentations, lectures, and ward rounds.
- Ensure effective administration and safe record keeping.
- Rotations through related departments at various hospitals are part of the training.
Notes
- Positions are joint appointments between the Gauteng Department of Health and academic institutions such as the University of Witwatersrand, University of Pretoria, and Sefako Makgatho University.
- No payment is required for application. The Department reserves the right not to fill the posts.
