Job description

Our client is seeking a driven and experienced Operations Manager to join their logistics team.

The operations manager will be responsible for ensuring that all company vehicles are serviced and maintained in a roadworthy condition and that all mechanical handling equipment is maintained in accordance with company policy.

Briefs new road crews on the specific details of their schedules to ensure maximum efficiency, courtesy, and safe driving.

Position Info :

Capabilities and Competencies :

  • Awareness of company policies / procedures.

  • Understand our client’s structure and reporting lines.
  • Highly motivated and driven individual.
  • Extremely good communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent English and Afrikaans oral and written communication skills.

Key Performance Indicators :

  • Ensure vehicles leave on time as per schedules.
  • Ensure drivers check vehicles prior to departure.
  • Ensure incidents, breakdowns and / or claims are reported to management timeously.
  • Address reckless driving, harsh braking, and misuse of company vehicles; complete incident reports.
  • Ensure vehicle checklists are completed accurately, and km readings are correctly submitted.
  • Provide updates and feedback to the client service department (CSD).
  • Update ETAs for local deliveries upon request from CSD.
  • Capture vehicle mileages onto C-track.
  • Book vehicles for servicing in a timely manner.
  • Ensure no vehicles leave the yard in an un-roadworthy condition.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of all vehicles.
  • Manage documentation correspondence across branches.
  • Take pictures of cargo before offloading and after loading, noting damages and actions taken.
  • Complete and submit fleet inventory.
  • Verify the validity of driver PDPs and escalate where necessary.
  • Maintain warehouse and yard housekeeping.
  • Conduct toolbox and health and safety meetings, providing minutes to management.
  • Check diesel slips for correct km readings.
  • Implement disciplinary actions when required.

Requirements :

  • Senior certificate (NQF4).
  • Tertiary qualification relevant to the role is advantageous.
  • 8-10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with C-track and Parcel Perfect is advantageous.
  • South African citizen.
  • Code B driver’s license and own transport.
