A leading Accounting and Auditing Firm in Cape Town is seeking an Accountant specializing in Compilations and Independent Reviews. The ideal candidate will have an Accounting Degree and experience in IFRS for SMEs. This role offers hybrid working hours and requires strong skills in Caseware and Xero.

Qualifications

• Completed SAICA Articles or 5-10 years’ bookkeeping experience required.
• AGA(SA) advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare budget approvals and capture client financial information.
• Draft annual financial statements and ensure quality compilations.
• Perform independent reviews and detailed review of working papers.

Job description

Accountant (Independent Reviews and Compilations) – Cape Town.

Accountant with completed Accounting Degree and SAICA Articles OR minimum 5-10 years bookkeeping experience in an Accounting & Auditing Firm, required for Compilations and Independent Reviews in terms of IFRS for SME’s and Accounting Officers’ engagements and Trust Compilation Engagements, for an Accounting and Auditing Firm based in Cape Town.

Minimum Requirements:

• Accounting Degree essential
• Completed SAICA Articles OR 5-10 years’ Bookkeeping experience in an Accounting and Auditing environment required
• AGA(SA) advantageous
• IFRS for SME knowledge required
• Experience in compilations and IR and drafting of AFS essential
• Caseware experience required
• Xero experience beneficial
• Hybrid and flexible working hours

Responsibilities:

• Write-ups – prepare budget approvals, capture client financial information on Xero/Caseware, process relevant year-end journal entries, trial balance
• Prepare Tax calculations, tax recons and VAT recons
• Prepare quality working paper file
• Draft annual financial statements
• Compilation and Independent Review in terms of IFRS for SME’s – prepare budgets, import and map client information, process year-end journals to finalise Trial Balance and drafting of AFS
• Ensure allocated engagements are completed within budget and communicate overruns
• Perform quality compilations, independent review and accounting officers’ engagement and a detailed review of working papers
