Job Purpose

To partner with operational heads to ensure that financial information is reported in line with IFRS standards, company policy, and business requirements. Provide commercial and financial oversight in supporting operational heads, while monitoring performance against approved budgets. Maintain effective communication channels between finance and business units.

Responsibilities
  • Operate within established systems to deliver outcomes for designated financial control areas. Monitor and control expenditure, interpret the impact of unusual figures identified through analytical review, and prepare budgets and forecasts in collaboration with senior managers.
Data Collection & Analysis
  • Identify and investigate anomalies with financial accountants to ensure data processing is complete and accurate. If investigations are inconclusive, further analyze data, extract relevant information, interpret financial performance, and prepare forecasts for business units, consolidating data as needed.
Cost Accounting
  • Perform detailed cost analyses to identify variances, suggest efficiencies, and enhance profitability. Conduct ratio analysis and interpret variances such as surplus ratio, claims ratio, and expenses ratio.
Budgeting & Costing
  • Develop budgets for organizational areas or analyze budget progress across units. Manage staff lists for correct cost allocations, oversee budget system management, and assist with template population. Liaise with stakeholders to ensure budget accuracy and logical consistency. Provide guidance on budget procedures, resolve issues, and manage iterative budget processes.
Operational Compliance
  • Adhere to mandatory procedures to meet quality standards and comply with external regulations and internal codes of conduct.
Insights and Reporting
  • Prepare and coordinate various financial reports.
Personal Capability Building
  • Stay informed about relevant laws and regulations, maintaining up-to-date compliance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Commerce; CIMA qualification (advantageous)
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years in Financial Management Accounting; 2 years in Financial Services (advantageous).
