Are you a postgraduate engineering academic looking for a change of scenery? We are looking for someone with a research-style sledgehammer to help our client break down barriers in the green economy.

Our client is a non-profit organisation that has their sight set on unlocking opportunities in green technologies both within South Africa, and internationally. They are looking for an Energy Analyst, a technical lead that will support their existing team in increasing the resource efficiency of their business in South Africa.

Experience in energy modelling and a Masters degree is crucial to being successful in this role.

You have a master’s in engineering, economics, finance, or resource management , and extensive project management experience, as well as a successful track record of securing repeat funding. Having successfully converted opportunities into funded projects within the South African renewable energy industry, you have an existing network of private and public stakeholders .

Responsibilities

This role focuses on developing our client’s technical expertise in the African Energy Sector, providing the opportunity to influence South Africa's energy future. As an Energy Analyst, you would lead technical aspects, support efforts to enhance resource efficiency for businesses and governments in Africa and engage stakeholders to drive sector growth. You would also promote market opportunities through viable business case development, critically analyse investment opportunities, and cultivate relationships with funders.

In Project Delivery, Support & Reporting, you would contribute to sector strategy, provide rapid expert input for strategic decision-making, and manage projects and resources, ensuring achievement of milestones. Additionally, you would coach and mentor junior staff and ensure quality control on deliverables. Stakeholder Engagements would involve building and maintaining key relationships, identifying investment opportunities, providing market insights, and engaging stakeholders to improve energy resilience. You would also participate in industry events, identify funding opportunities, and generate networks to easily obtain key market insights.
