Job Title: R&D Weapons Mechatronics Engineer (Junior)

Location: Centurion - Hennopspark

Salary: Market related

Vacancy Type: Full-Time

Qualifications and Experience:
  1. Matric with an average of 85% (non-negotiable)
  2. BEng / BSc in Mechatronics Engineering, Electronics, or equivalent
  3. 0-1 year experience in R&D or systems engineering
  4. Strong understanding of control systems, robotics, and embedded platforms
  5. Proficient in CAD (e.g., SolidWorks), circuit design tools (e.g., Altium), and C / C++ or Python
  6. Experience with sensors, actuators, and feedback control loops
Beneficial Requirements:
  • Exposure to military-grade systems, weapons platforms, or fire-control systems
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD requirements and environmental testing (EMI, shock, vibration)
  • Knowledge of autonomous systems or target tracking algorithms
Responsibilities:
  1. Design and develop mechatronic subsystems for advanced weapon platforms (e.g., turrets, guided systems, fire-control modules)
  2. Integrate mechanical, electronic, and software components into compact, rugged, field-ready solutions
  3. Develop and test actuators, sensors, control systems, and embedded electronics for real-time operation
  4. Contribute to concept development, prototyping, and verification testing
  5. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including software, mechanical, and systems engineers
  6. Apply safety and compliance standards in line with military and defence specifications
