Role Summary

The purpose of this role is to substantially contribute to developing new and existing products within the designated portfolio by meticulous planning, implementation, and management of approved projects. The aim is to deliver comprehensive trial results to form part of dossiers compliant with Act 36 of 1947, within designated timelines to meet business targets and global market food safety trends. This role focuses on insecticides and covers South Africa with support to Southern African countries that UPL SA exports to.

Role Responsibilities
  1. Plan, implement, and manage the R&D trial program for designated crops and products, aligned with product strategies and project scopes.
  2. Coordinate with CROs for project execution, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets, and accurate data generation and reporting.
  3. Analyze trial results, draft summaries, and contribute to registration dossiers demonstrating efficacy, selectivity, and residue data compliant with regulations.
  4. Participate in portfolio meetings, providing updates on trial results and sharing technical expertise.
  5. Maintain accurate updates to project management and regulatory tracking platforms.
  6. Engage with industry bodies and forums to stay informed on trends and transfer knowledge.
  7. Conduct regular site visits to ensure trial progress aligns with plans and timelines.
Individual/Team Management

Manage people, set direction, deploy resources, and oversee performance evaluations, pay reviews, and hiring/firing decisions. Responsible for business processes or programs within the functional or operational areas.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Technical Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in agrochemical product development or regulatory departments.
  • B.Sc in Agriculture or Natural Sciences; post-graduate qualification advantageous.
  • CropLife Basic Crop Protection Certificate.
  • SACNASP accreditation beneficial.
  • Knowledge of GHS Labelling requirements.
  • Understanding of product registration processes and crop protection environment.
  • Technical project management skills.
  • Experience with statistical methods and trial data management on ARM platform.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and accurate in project planning and data management.
  • Self-motivated with solution-oriented approach.
  • Creative, flexible, and able to address challenges during project execution.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage activities within timelines.
  • Independent worker, capable of maintaining high accuracy under pressure.
