Role Purpose
To develop, test, deploy, document, and maintain high-value reporting solutions and dashboards across the business using a variety of tools.
Requirements
- 3 - 5 years of Business Intelligence development experience (essential)
- Experience in programming and data warehousing (essential)
- Matric (Grade 12) certificate
- Degree in Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, or a relevant equivalent qualification
- Understanding of SQL and RDBMS technology (MySQL, MS SQL Server, DB2)
- Experience with analytic software applications (e.g., Microsoft SQL Reporting Services)
- Knowledge of business intelligence tools (e.g., SSRS, Business Objects, PowerBI, Tableau, QuickSight)
- Relational database design experience, including operational data stores and data warehouses
- Detailed knowledge of BI areas such as ETL design, analytics, reporting, and data modeling
- Advanced Excel skills
- Knowledge of OLTP/OLAP systems, Dimensional Modeling, business rule transformations, and data analysis
- Proficiency in debugging and troubleshooting techniques
- Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data warehouses for reporting and analysis
- Develop and maintain Business Intelligence and reporting processes
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze, and prioritize requests
- Translate requirements into specifications for BI reports
- Extract, transform, and load data using relevant tools
- Design and develop reports and dashboards based on business requirements
- Create technical specifications and process flows for data activities
- Verify data quality and incorporate security measures
- Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and address issues
- Monitor solution performance and recommend improvements
- Log and resolve issues in existing systems
- Manage change control processes and maintain data warehouse administration
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability through quality checks and governance
