About the role

As we embrace the opportunities presented by the digital era, we seek a visionary Managing Director to lead our Land Infrastructure business unit in Africa, reporting directly to the Chief Executive : Africa. As the Managing Director of Land Infrastructure at Zutari, you will provide strategic direction, operational leadership, and drive business growth within the sector.

Leveraging extensive experience in infrastructure engineering, you will lead a team to deliver transformative projects and shape sustainable infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Leadership

Develop, update, and implement a Land Infrastructure specific Business Plan for profitable growth and market expansion. Integrate this plan with Zutari's overall strategy. Maintain, grow, and broaden talent and eminence. Connect the business unit with the entire Zutari organization through group initiatives. Maintain industry eminence through thought leadership and stakeholder relationships. Identify emerging trends and opportunities to enhance service offerings.

  1. Operational Management

Oversee daily operations, ensure efficient project delivery, resource allocation, and budget management. Establish KPIs for operational excellence. Guide opportunity management, partner responses, and project pipeline management. Ensure targets are met and progress reported to management.

  1. Winning Work

Generate revenue through client relationships, proposals, tenders, and repeat work. Contribute to client proposals and tenders with business development teams.

  1. Client Engagement and Relationship Management

Build strong client relationships, lead engagement initiatives, and identify new business opportunities. Manage project backlog and pipeline.

  1. Leadership and Development

Provide inspirational leadership, foster collaboration, mentor team members, promote diversity and integrity, and influence staff development.

  1. Quality Assurance and Compliance

Ensure compliance with standards, implement quality assurance, and promote initiatives like youth empowerment and professional development. Participate in industry events and contribute thought leadership.

Requirements

Qualifications: Minimum 15 years' experience in civil engineering, with senior management exposure. Proven track record in strategic planning, business growth, and financial targets. Experience managing large teams and regional relationships.

Knowledge / Skills: Broad civil engineering expertise, industry best practices, emerging technologies, strategic thinking, leadership, communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and adaptability.

Leadership Qualities: Visionary, business acumen, innovative, client-focused, team-oriented, ethical, resilient, industry expert, collaborative.
