Job description

Job Title : Mechanical Engineer Location : Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa Job Category : Mechanical Engineering Contract Type : Permanent Closing Date : 15 April 1.

Purpose of the Role A fantastic opportunity is available for a seasoned Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in engineering design, project delivery, and quality control.

This role requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, along with strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with clients and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Role Description Key responsibilities include : Designing building services using industry-relevant software within the mechanical engineering discipline.

Coordinating multidisciplinary engineering services across project stages.

Preparing and reviewing design and construction documentation, including data analysis, drawing reviews, and client reports.

Monitoring construction and conducting audits, including specification compliance inspections, construction payment assessments, factory / site acceptance testing, and commissioning.

Implementing and managing quality assurance and quality control procedures throughout projects.

Managing projects to meet quality standards, timelines, and budgets.

Providing leadership and line management to the mechanical engineering team.

Candidate Specifications The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria : A qualification in Mechanical Engineering (minimum BTech; BSc / BEng preferred; Masters degree advantageous).

Professionally registered with ECSA.

A minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the building services sector (including HVAC and wet services).

Additional experience in any of the following areas is advantageous : Fire protection systems Vertical transportation Refrigeration Piped gas services (medical gases, LPG) Building management systems Industrial mechanical engineering (e.g., water / wastewater treatment plants) Project management Strong understanding and application of local and international engineering standards and legislation, particularly related to safety.

Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Possession of a valid drivers licence.
