Site Managing Director (acting as a CEO)

Position Type: Permanent

Management: Our client based in Gauteng is seeking a Site Managing Director to join their team.

Contract Details: This role is a 6-month contract. The individual will act externally as CEO on behalf of the company, fulfilling the company's vision by managing stakeholder relationships and providing strong internal and external leadership.

Internal Responsibilities: Acting as Director with executive responsibilities to the board, ensuring performance objectives are met, and managing sub-contractors effectively. Implementation of an approved strategic plan is essential for successful delivery.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Managing the total P&L of the company's contract
  • Reporting to the Board of Directors through the Chairman
  • Ensuring compliance with South African legal and commercial obligations (as part of the concession agreement)
  • Providing leadership in directing company resources and managing assets, including supply contracts under the Maintenance Commercial Contract with BOC

  • Effective execution of board responsibilities

  • Implementation of the company transformation process
  • Development and measurement of the Margin Enhancement Plan (MEP)

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
General:
  • 8-10+ years of management experience, preferably in a multinational organization
  • Proven contract negotiation and management skills
  • Experience leading large teams and driving business growth
  • Track record of profitability and SLA compliance
  • Knowledge of transport and rail industries
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
Company Knowledge:
  • Understanding of company vision, values, and strategy
  • Knowledge of strategy execution and governance
  • Familiarity with company policies, supply chain, and customer relationships
Role Specific:
  • Understanding of directorship responsibilities
  • Experience with customer agreements
  • Business deliverables including P&L management and renewals
Requirements:
  • Post-graduate degree (business qualification), MBA highly advantageous
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Subordinate management experience
