Job Description and Requirements

This position requires candidates to meet specific skills and experience criteria. Please read the following carefully before applying:

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Take a report from the previous shift.
  2. Assist patients in preparation for meals, drinks, and snacks, and feed them if needed.
  3. Record and report all relevant information to the Registered Nurse on duty.
  4. Assist patients with fluids and in the dining room, including putting bibs on those who need them.
  5. Help dish up and cut food for patients who are too weak.
  6. Do rounds by your patients and assist residents with daily tasks, providing general support.
  7. Encourage dietary and fluid intake, monitoring health-related conditions.
  8. Help residents with mobility difficulties and other physical disabilities, including incontinence, using aids and personal equipment respectfully.
  9. Record and report all relevant residents’ information.
  10. Promote residents' individuality and dignity, ensuring high standards of care and encouraging independence.
  11. Cater to different cultural needs sensitively and respect confidentiality.
  12. Provide direct care as required, attend meetings, case conferences, and training courses.
  13. Contribute to effective communication within the team.
  14. Undertake duties as determined by management, including assisting with mobility, hygiene, and daily routines.
  15. Ensure health and safety policies are followed and undertake other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with morning and evening routines, including bathing and grooming.
  • Take reports from day/night staff, do rounds, and assist co-workers as needed.
  • Assist with fluid intake during teatime and ensure the trolley is ready for meals.
  • Check and record nappy rounds for residents.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in the nursing field.
  • Diploma in in-home Nursing registered with HW SETA.
  • Matric Certificate (Grade 12).
  • Ability to handle the nature of the work.

  • Minimum education level: Grade 12 / N4 (Matric).
