Job description

Salary / CTC : R 60 000 - R 100 000 (Depending on current earnings, qualifications, and experience)

Report to : COO

Type : Permanent

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Lead and oversee daily operations across all claims functions (FNOL, processing, assessment, repair / replacement).
  2. Ensure delivery of agreed SLAs, KPIs, and regulatory compliance standards (including FAIS, TCF).
  3. Continuously optimise system workflows.
  4. Drive strategic improvements using MI dashboards, reporting insights, and operational reviews.
  5. Identify and manage claims trends, process gaps, and risk areas; propose and implement improvements.
  6. Provide strong people leadership through coaching, mentoring, and development plans.
  7. Handle high-risk, complex, or escalated claims with urgency and professionalism.
  8. Partner with external vendors, service providers, and assessors to ensure quality and cost-effective claims fulfilment.
  9. Build a culture of accountability, performance excellence, and service innovation within the team.
  10. Support the Head of Claims with strategic planning, budgeting, performance reporting, and audits.

Experience and Skills :

  1. 5-10 years of experience in short-term insurance claims, with 3+ years in an operations leadership role.
  2. Demonstrated success in managing large teams and delivering against profitability and performance goals.
  3. Proven track record in transforming claims operations and driving measurable outcomes.
  4. Strong working knowledge of home/property insurance products and the full claims lifecycle.
  5. Expertise in claims systems, data reporting tools, and operational performance metrics.
  6. Strong communicator, strategic thinker, and confident decision-maker.
  7. Deep understanding of compliance, governance, and risk frameworks relevant to insurance claims.

Qualifications :

  1. Matric / Grade 12 (Required)
  2. FETC: Short-Term Insurance (NQF Level 4) (Required)
  3. RE5 Certification (Required)
  4. RE1 Certification (Advantageous)
  5. FAIS Fit and Proper compliance (as per regulatory role requirements) (Required)
  6. A tertiary qualification in a relevant field is advantageous (Advantageous)

Working Conditions :

  1. Reside in Pretoria, within 15km radius from Menlyn Mall
  2. Multilingual skills would be advantageous
  3. Own reliable car and valid driver’s license
