Nelson Mandela University seeks a full-time lecturer in Software Engineering to enhance the learning experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This role involves teaching, research, and community engagement, with a structured development program leading to permanent employment. To create, design, develop, facilitate, and administer the learning and teaching process for students in modules presented by Nelson Mandela University at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The role involves participating in research and innovation, contributing to community, professional, and discipline engagement, and being involved in the core functions of the University.
The position involves lecturing subjects within the School of Information Technology, Department of Software Engineering, and potentially across other departments depending on operational needs.
This is a full-time, permanent nGAP appointment covering a six-year development period: a 3-year development program followed by a 3-year induction. The structure aims to enable the appointee to complete a PhD or publish doctoral research and acquire research and teaching skills:
Masters in Information Technology or Computer Science with a minimum average of 70%. Registration for a PhD is expected within 3 months of appointment.
Interest and ability to engage in Applied Artificial Intelligence research is required.
Experience with Internet programming, Python, C#, and database design is advantageous.
Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, including software, hardware, and human aspects, is beneficial.
Both lecturing and industry experience are considered advantageous.
