Role Purpose/Business Unit:

To oversee and manage the segment sales teams, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to defend and grow the segment base. This involves ensuring account planning and opportunity management translate into sales, implementation, and delivery of services aimed at achieving segment sales targets, customer experience, and commercial objectives such as sales, revenue, and profitability margins.

Your responsibilities will include:
Sales Management
  • Manage, monitor, and review segment sales targets
  • Contribute to setting sales targets for the segment sales team aligned with overall sales goals
  • Operationalise the sales plan to meet segment targets
  • Develop and monitor the implementation of a sales plan
  • Lead virtual segment account teams to meet profitability and revenue targets
  • Develop contact strategies and account development plans (ADP) for each account
  • Build a pipeline of qualified prospects and manage decision-making processes within accounts
  • Ensure operational service delivery through team management and mentorship
  • Identify new opportunities via business intelligence analysis
  • Use customer and market insights to inform data-driven forecasting and targeted sales strategies
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and motivation to the sales team
  • Lead lead generation initiatives for new business acquisition
  • Represent Vodacom in client negotiations
  • Drive market leadership on Customer NPS by understanding customer value and delivering outstanding service
Stakeholder Management
  • Establish and maintain internal and external relationships, implementing remedial actions as needed
  • Develop relationships based on integrity and professionalism to create value and opportunities
  • Maintain key account relationships with channel partners aligned to customer experience and sales strategies
  • Manage communication with stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle
  • Develop contact strategies and account plans for allocated accounts
  • Handle escalated customer complaints from a service perspective
  • Resolve sales and pricing claims on trading accounts
  • Serve as the communication link between key customers and internal teams
  • Generate new sales and foster long-term relationships
  • Report on progress and forecasts to stakeholders using key account metrics
  • Manage a pipeline of prospects to ensure sales closure
Reporting
  • Prepare weekly/monthly demand management and sales analysis reports
  • Develop annual sales strategies and budgets
  • Provide regular progress reports and forecasts
  • Track key account metrics and identify trends and opportunities
Delivering through People
  • Oversee team activities to ensure business outcomes
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and enablement initiatives
  • Identify skills gaps and facilitate training and development
  • Create a high-performing team through performance management and coaching
  • Embed company values and engagement initiatives
  • Handle disciplinary issues with HR support if needed
  • Resolve grievances and motivate team members, recognizing efforts via Vodafone Stars platform
The ideal candidate will have:
  • B Degree/Equivalent
  • Post Graduate Degree in Sales/Marketing/Business Commerce or related field (advantageous)
  • Minimum 8 years’ sales and service experience in telecommunications or ICT environments, with demonstrated expertise in portfolio management, NPS improvement, and relationship building
  • At least 2 years of management experience
Technical Competencies

  • Deep understanding of customer business, market, and industry influencers
  • Ability to translate customer objectives into Vodacom propositions
  • Proven track record of managing sales teams and revenue growth
