Job Description
- Team Support
- Integrating with the grid planning, project development and design functions in ENERTRAG
- Support the development and expansion of technical infrastructure and process to optimise electrical designs and support the design base
- Design and Optimisation of grid connection preliminary and detailed design for ESA projects (Wind, PV, Storage and PtX). Note scope can expand to include projects in the region including likes of Hyphen
- Substation design
- Power line design
- Collector network design
- Preliminary and detailed design and related cost estimates
- Electrical design base
- Support the ENERTRAG electrical design database of the South African/Regional projects
- Reports
- Drawings and diagrams
- Protection schemes
- Bills of Quantities
- Cost estimates
- Project Reporting
- Regular reporting on the status and the progress of project electrical design and grid connection. Pro-actively inform as regards to any major deviation from the plan
- Grid planning integration
- Provide electrical design inputs into the grid planning studies and conceptual design for the purposes of initial grid connection application (Eskom CEL)
- Decision Making
- Making decisions on project electrical design matters within the authority given by management
- Knowledge collection and sharing
- Compile specific information regarding requirements for the electrical design base
Qualifications
Qualification
- Field of Study
- Engineer (Electrical or similar)
- Type of Training
- Relevant Professional Experience
- Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience
- Additional qualification(s)/certificates
- Registration as a Candidate Engineer
Experience
- Power system analysis
- Basic Understanding of load-flow and fault-levels
- Electrical design - Primary Plant
- Produce Designs under supervision of electrical systems such as substations and power lines, and the related design integration with generation plant and energy storage systems.
- Electrical design - Secondary Plant (PTMC)
- Basic exposure to Protection, Telecomms, Metering and Control design principles
- Grid connection application
- Support the process of compiling grid connection applications in order to develop preliminary grid designs and obtain firm quotations for grid connection (in an Eskom context - from CEL acceptance to BQ issue/acceptance and commercial operation)
- Grid codes and standards
- Basic knowledge and implementation of the local standards and codes impacting on the grid interconnection of power generation/storage/PtX projects and the design of the related electrical plant
