Main Purpose of the Role:

Responsible for the overall management of the Automotive vertical and the Key Account Managers supporting automotive accounts. This includes understanding and influencing all functions in the automotive industry, such as Operations, Human Resources, IT, Finance, and Sales. The role involves owning revenue retention and growth within the Automotive vertical, expanding into other DSV business units like Solutions and Air & Sea, and achieving growth targets by retaining and acquiring new clients.

Basic Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of end-to-end Supply Chain experience, with at least 3 years managing Account Managers supporting reputable Auto brands' supply chain, especially on outbound road distribution within South Africa.
  • Experience responding to Tenders / RFI's / RFP's / RFQ's and formulating logistical solutions for Automotive brands.
  • National Diploma or equivalent.

Note: Experience in car or truck sales or vehicle/fleet leasing is not considered appropriate. Preferred experience includes end-to-end Supply Chain management within the Automotive sector, including inbound logistics via Air & Sea and warehousing services, or experience working for an Auto OEM in a Supply Chain or Logistics capacity.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Aligning the DSV Auto Sales team with company and customer strategies to foster long-term relationships and profitable business.
  • Building and maintaining relationships within portfolio accounts (C-level) and internally with regional management and directors.
  • Creating a positive team environment and managing Account Managers according to Minimal Acceptable Standards (MAS).
  • Ensuring effective tender responses and proposals.
  • Monitoring billing variance reports to identify revenue loss and leakage.
  • Achieving new business and retention targets.
  • Setting and managing budgets considering seasonality, trade variations, and annual increases.
  • Managing teams to achieve guidance and resolve debtors issues.
  • Conducting annual goal setting and performance reviews.
  • Handling conflict management and motivation skills.
  • Resource planning to ensure sufficient capacity.
  • Managing governance, compliance, and reporting, including contract negotiations, liabilities, insurance, NDAs, penalties, and rate increases.
  • Maintaining updated contracts and records of increases.
  • Monthly reporting of business achievements.
  • Engaging with customers through operational meetings, reviews, and strategic sessions.
  • Handling customer escalations and internal relationship building.
  • Providing technical guidance for solution design and process development.
  • Overseeing the implementation of new accounts or services.
