Job description

Job Title: Senior HSE Specialist

You as a Senior HSE Specialist will be part of Hitachi Energy business based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Your role involves contributing to improving Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance and corporate responsibility within your assigned geography.

You will support the business by applying in-depth knowledge to offer solutions and advice through the delivery of Group-wide performance improvement programs and/or Group Audit Program.

Responsibilities
  1. Deliver and deploy HSE training, audits, and Group-wide performance improvement programs to divisions and local Business Units.
  2. Analyze HSE data within your area of responsibility and report on progress regarding the implementation of Sustainability Objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  3. Assess emerging trends and legislation in HSE, communicate relevant legal requirements, and support constituent countries in compliance.
  4. Conduct audits as per the Group Audit Program and support the follow-up of improvement actions in Local Business Units.
  5. Collaborate across functions and with business partners to raise awareness, drive performance, and build stakeholder commitment and credibility for the Center of Excellence (CoE).
  6. Drive behavioral change and continuous improvement through training, competence initiatives, and expert support aligned with the yearly HSE plan.
  7. Coordinate reporting on HSE performance and support the delivery of the Group audit program.
  8. Plan, execute, and report on Health, Safety, Environment, and Corporate Responsibility projects.
  9. Manage project resources, including manpower and financials.
