Job Purpose

To assist the Head of Compliance with the coordination, facilitation, and management of the Compliance function for the Division through monitoring, reporting, developing networks, and providing advice to minimise regulatory, reputational, and compliance risks. The goal is to avert potential litigations and penalties, ultimately increasing shareholder value for the bank.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Assist the Head of Compliance in setting the annual budget for the Business Unit / Cluster compliance function.
  2. Support managers within the Business Unit to monitor risks related to governance and compliance by providing guidance or expert advice to governance and compliance officers.
  3. Ensure transformational targets are met. Contribute to a culture of transformation by participating in Nedbank culture-building initiatives, business strategy, and CSI.
  4. Participate in developing, implementing, and addressing issues raised in culture surveys to improve results.
  5. Manage staff performance through performance agreements and a clear vision.
  6. Mentor and coach staff to address performance gaps.
  7. Motivate staff to perform and contribute to the success of the business by fostering teamwork, sharing information, and encouraging participation in decision-making processes.
Essential Qualifications NQF Level
  • Advanced Diplomas / National 1st Degrees
Preferred Qualification
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Compliance or equivalent
Preferred Certifications
  • Compliance Institute of South Africa (CISA) – preferred but not essential
Minimum Experience Level
  • At least 5 years of legal, regulatory, or compliance experience, with a minimum of 2 years at management level
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Banks Act
