A leading FMCG Retailer is seeking an experienced Financial Manager to join their dynamic team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial and administrative duties of a local Newcastle operation, ensuring effective financial planning, control, and reporting across the operation.

This role is critical to ensuring the long-term profitability and financial health of the organization.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assisting in preparing management accounts up to Trial Balance
  2. Assist with balance sheet preparation
  3. Invoicing
  4. Creditors
  5. Debtors
  6. Basic financial accounting responsibilities
  7. Reports to General Manager, Group Accountant, and Head Office financial teams
  8. Supervision of a small finance and administration team
  9. In-depth knowledge of retail financial principles, inventory management, and cost controls
  10. Ensure effective cash flow management across the store, maintaining liquidity and financial stability
  11. Manage the company's credit and collections policies, ensuring timely payments from suppliers and customers
  12. Monitor stock levels and work closely with the procurement team to optimize inventory turnover and minimize financial waste due to overstocking or understocking
  13. Oversee payroll processing for all stores, ensuring accuracy and compliance with labor laws
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • Minimum 5 years retail (FMCG) industry experience as a Financial Manager
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a similar tertiary qualification
  • HR experience (advantageous)
  • Retail accounting system experience: Sage Pastel, SAP, Sigma, EASY Accounts
  • Advanced MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Local Newcastle residency required
  • A positive attitude with an ambitious personality
  • Exceptional financial analysis and reporting skills
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
