Job Description
WSP has a new opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Mine Waste team on a full-time basis in Midrand.
The role involves providing Geotechnical Engineering services across the mining, infrastructure, property, and buildings sectors.
Key Responsibilities :
Manage geological and geotechnical projects, including multi-disciplinary projects, tailings facility site investigations, and infrastructure projects.
Interpret geological and geotechnical data, perform analysis, and develop conclusions and recommendations.
Prepare proposals, tenders, reports, and other technical documents.
Oversee field observations, perform analysis, and generate geological and geotechnical reports.
Apply judgment to adapt and modify approaches in collaboration with senior engineers.
Characterize ground conditions and materials.
Develop proposals, including methodology and cost estimations.
Supervise technicians and junior staff on site.
Identify safety hazards, report OH&S incidents, and ensure safe work practices.
Complete necessary inductions and prerequisites.
Ensure compliance with company, client, and government policies, procedures, regulations, and standards.
Engage in client and business development activities.
Prepare and deliver presentations to clients.
Participate in training, mentoring, and knowledge transfer activities.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
Post-graduate studies in Geotechnical Engineering are preferred.
Minimum of 8 years' post-graduate experience.
Professional registration with ECSA or equivalent.
Extensive experience in Geotechnical Investigations, both factual and interpretive.
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience working on projects of various sizes across different sectors.
Solid knowledge of soil and rock mechanics.
Leadership and mentoring capabilities.
