Calibration Technician
Department : ME & Maintenance (BP55200)
Reporting to: Maintenance Engineer
The main purpose of the job
UD Trucks is known for our pioneering technologies and products within the commercial automotive industry. This position is responsible for investigating, diagnosing, and performing trade-related maintenance, repairs, and calibrations on production tools & equipment according to production requirements and organizational standards.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist in creating a calibration plan for all production and measurement equipment with the Maintenance Engineer.
- Ensure calibration equipment and master samples are compliant and sent for calibration as per the plan.
- Plan and coordinate external calibration of equipment with the Maintenance Engineer.
- Issue production (excluding hand tools) and measurement tools, and maintain records.
- Create and maintain calibration records for easy retrieval.
- Adhere strictly to the service and calibration schedules.
- Align calibration data with the tools register per station.
- Keep station tool registers updated with all tool issuance and removals.
- Monitor tool performance via toolsnet and compile weekly performance reports.
- Recommend tools for repair or disposal and raise purchase orders accordingly.
- Record data from tightening equipment subjected to calibration.
- Conduct process audits as per MEM requirements.
- Record daily tool issues and man-hours, sharing reports with the ME team.
- Support Quality Assurance by maintaining compliance and up-to-date training documentation.
- Adapt calibration equipment, standards, and techniques for specific measurement tasks.
- Contribute to problem-solving forums by submitting EWO, RNC, SOP documentation.
- Ensure compliance with external standards and regulations by evaluating procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the ME & MEM Manager.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis for continuous improvement.
- Participate in X-Functional meetings as needed.
- Support UD Production System adherence.
- Implement and maintain 5S practices in the calibration area.
- Promote safety-conscious work practices.
- Ensure incident reports are completed on IR forms.
Improvements
- Investigate and implement tool/machine improvements to enhance quality and output.
- Introduce quick and standard Kaizens.
- Engage operators proactively for Kaizen initiatives.
- Pursue energy-saving initiatives.
- Provide input for spares requirements.
Business Unit
- Support other business units fully.
- Maintain clear and open communication.
- Foster teamwork and active problem solving.
- Report deviations to ME for process improvements.
- Participate in handover meetings and prioritize work.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the department.
Minimum Qualifications
- N6 or National Diploma in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Amic Level 4 and/or technical qualifications are advantageous.
- Experience as a Maintenance Technician is beneficial.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
