What will you do?
Position purpose:
To provide financial accounting services to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate support for the payroll department. This includes processing and monitoring payments, journals, and reports. The goal is to ensure payroll finances are valid and accurate, enabling reliable information and timely, appropriate payments.
Accountabilities
Position Specific Outputs
Specific deliverables include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare and distribute accurate and timely management accounts or executive summaries within agreed timeframes (Service Level Agreements).
- Prepare and analyze information for statutory requirements.
- Reconcile statements of financial position or comprehensive income within stipulated timeframes.
- Capture and reconcile all accounts accurately and promptly to the trial balance.
- Record all general ledger journal entries accurately and on time.
- Conduct reconciliation and reasonability tests.
- Maintain effective finance documentation and record keeping.
- Prepare documentation for internal and external audits and assist as required.
- Prepare net pay reconciliations and analyze variances (Payroll balancing).
- Run payroll/HR reports such as AIDO, Costing Report, Stats SA, UIF, etc.
- Reconcile third-party payments (Paye, Med Aid, etc.), submit funding requests, and handle Sanlam submissions and payments.
- Load online payments.
- Complete and submit monthly EMP201 forms to SARS.
- Perform annual reconciliations to ensure accuracy and submit to SARS.
- Conduct accuracy tests on tax and address tax-related queries.
- Build and maintain relationships with SARS, auditors, and employees.
- Request account statements, investigate interest and penalties, and provide proof of payment to clients.
- Resolve IRP5 queries, including manual IRP5 processing for historical corrections.
- Submit electronic files to SARS, including IRP5 and EMP501 reconciliations.
- Assist with half-year and year-end audits as needed.
- Generate ad hoc reports for the business.

Qualification and Experience
- 3-4 years relevant financial accounting experience.
- Financial qualification relevant to the department; studying towards a qualification.
